Back Vintage Collection: Perfectus Chardonnay 2022

PERFECTUS BACKGROUND

At Simon Tolley Wines, we believe exceptional wine begins with exceptional vineyards. Each vintage, we dedicate ourselves to selecting only the finest parcels of fruit, searching for the unique combination of seasonal conditions, vineyard character and quality that defines our premium Perfectus range.

HARVEST

A carefully selected parcel of Bernard 95 Chardonnay from the Tolley Vineyard in Woodside was harvested on 22 March 2022. This outstanding vintage displayed remarkable fruit purity, balance and elegance, making it the ideal candidate for this special release.

WINEMAKING

The hand-picked fruit was gently whole-bunch pressed directly to seasoned French oak barrels, capturing only the finest free-run juice. A portion of wild fermentation was encouraged to enhance complexity and texture, followed by extended maturation on lees with regular bâtonnage to build richness, structure and refinement before bottling.

CHARACTER

A refined and elegant expression of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, the 2022 Perfectus displays lifted aromas of honeydew melon, lemon and yellow peach, beautifully complemented by subtle notes of clotted cream. The palate is vibrant yet luxurious, combining citrus freshness with stone fruit richness and a creamy, textured finish. A beautifully balanced Chardonnay showcasing purity, finesse and sophistication.
